A dwarf walks with a slight stomp, one shoulder dropped as if carrying a tool that isn't there, and answers questions in short, blunt sentences. The Queen moves slowly and takes her time turning to face whoever she's speaking to, letting a pause sit before she answers. For a quick game with kids, take turns asking the question at the heart of the whole story, who is the fairest of them all, and let each person answer in character. It never fails to get a laugh, even from the shyest dwarf in the room.
Finishing touches
A short cape in a bright, contrasting colour worn over the classic dress adds a royal touch without changing the character at all, and it photographs well from behind as much as from the front.
For a lower effort version of the story, a simple hat and glasses set can carry the whole costume on its own, which makes it a good option for someone who wants to join in at the last minute without building a full outfit.
